We put a two hundred gallon cattle water pond in our backyard circa 2002. This pond provides life to large goldfish, pond lilies and vinca that grows around it, and serves as a water hole for our bees. In addition, we pump the pond water onto our fruit trees and other vegetation as a fertilzer high in nitrogen. A photovoltaic panel straddled across the top of the pond provides shade and powers a pump that keeps the pond aerated.
